Spotting Potential in Teaching Assistants

Mrs Benita Jupe, Engagement Mentor

I started at the Warriner as a teaching assistant in 2007.

Over the years I have had a wide range of training that has enabled me to work with a variety of students with all different needs. My training has included specialist areas such as Downs Syndrome, Asperger's and ADHD to name a few. We were also lucky enough to have a programme run by CAHMS which broke down parenting, mental health and open questioning etc. leading to me being able to progress up to the role of Engagement Mentor.

I love working one-to-one with students, listening and helping to find ways to engage them in the Warriner community. This has built my confidence enough to encourage me to train as a counsellor outside of school.
